Art : Laurie Lipton

[La Luz - Laurie Lipton - charcoal and pencil]

Though I don't roam around on Tumblr like I used to, I have to say that it has shown me some pretty amazing art over the few years I've been on there that I may not have seen until much later.  One such artist that has stuck with me all started with the above image.   I was so pulled in to it from the subject matter, the inspiration, and the amazing amount of detail that I did an image search right away to find out who the proper artist was.  I found that it was New York based artist, Laurie Lipton.  The more I saw of her art, the more I fell in love with it.  All of these samples were done with pencil and charcoal, and the detail is just exquisite.

You may have even seen this image on a graphic t-shirt featured at All Saints awhile back.

Do you have an artist that you found by happy accident that has inspired you?

good morning

[dia de los muertos dog from masks y mas in ABQ, NM]

Just a smile to say hello and good morning and thank you :)

There has been so much that has gone on this summer, and I have managed to photograph just about all of it.    From the amazing vacation that week took, to the several shows we saw of good friends bands play, to the music video that was shot in our home, random drinking adventures and outings, the Olympics, more home improvements, and family visiting.  I have felt bad for not updating because I feel like the next post should be about the Vegas leg of my vacation, but it's so much and a little overwhelming.  It will come in time, and it will be beautiful. In the meantime, I will not let it hinder me from sharing other things before.

You can slowly start to see the end of summer which makes me so happy!

[11.2.2011 a smile for them]

we celebrate day of the dead, or dia de los muertos.  last year was the hardest yet.  it's never to easy to place a new photo or belonging for a loved one lost, but when you have to double it...  this year was much easier than last.  i did not cry when i set up the altar.  when i placed the food, i did not cry.  jem saw it when i was done setting everything up, and he smiled.

remember and show love to who you have and who you have lost.  smile and wish them well.  remember what they left you with and appreciate it because they are never fully gone from you.
