My style : 4.17.2013

[Cosette, me, and Joon]

Back in April we hit some unseasonably hot, HOT weather.  Luckily the heat didn't kill everything that was growing in our back yard at the time, and of course the dogs loved it.  Me?  Not so much.  But at least it got me into the mindset of thinking summer and starting to plan wardrobe options.

I've only worn these leggings two times, but that will be changing soon now that the hot weather is back and summer is pretty much officially here.  I found them on Sourpuss Clothing back in early March and I'm really glad that I made the purchase.  They are very similar to a pair of BlackMilk leggings that I had been swooning over.  I still plain to own a pair of theirs one day, but these were a more wallet friendly option.

Trying to play catch up a bit on my day off!  Taken this past weekend which turned out to be much more quiet than I had originally planned, but this is not a bad thing.  The weather was chilly, but not cold like it had been so I opted to just layer like mad.  A little frumpy, yes, but I was comfortable.

Breakdown:
Converse cardigan
Shark bite tunic from Forever 21 forever ago
Skull lace shirt from a bargain rack(!)
Decree skinny jeans which I still get elephant knees in...

Art : Laurie Lipton

[La Luz - Laurie Lipton - charcoal and pencil]

Though I don't roam around on Tumblr like I used to, I have to say that it has shown me some pretty amazing art over the few years I've been on there that I may not have seen until much later.  One such artist that has stuck with me all started with the above image.   I was so pulled in to it from the subject matter, the inspiration, and the amazing amount of detail that I did an image search right away to find out who the proper artist was.  I found that it was New York based artist, Laurie Lipton.  The more I saw of her art, the more I fell in love with it.  All of these samples were done with pencil and charcoal, and the detail is just exquisite.

You may have even seen this image on a graphic t-shirt featured at All Saints awhile back.

Do you have an artist that you found by happy accident that has inspired you?

Two tone lip

[Playing around with the two tone lip - top "Pagan Angel", bottom "Ferguson Crest Cabernet"]

[Black skull necklace - kreepsville666]

["Ferguson Crest Cabernet", "Pagan Angel"]

I don't wear a ton of makeup, and I don't buy a lot of expensive makeup.  Sure I have my share of MAC products(mostly lipsticks and shadows), and I'm itching for LimeCrime's "Serpentina" and "Poisonberry" lips,  but my everyday look is lipbalm of some sort and Wet n' Wild's black liquid liner.  Yep!  So when I ran out yesterday and had to stop at the drug store for more liner I couldn't help but peek around and look at their displays.

Which brings me to these two that I picked up.  They are made by Wet n' Wild partnered with Fergie.  I've tried two of the polishes from her/them and wasn't terribly impressed.  Most were dupes of polishes that I had something terribly close to already.  This was the first time I'd seen any lipsticks.  The two that I naturally gravitated toward was a black - "pagan angel", and a purple berry - "ferguson crest cabernet" .  The black is your average solid black,  but not a sure blackout, pity.  The berry colour is a lot more purple than what my photos lead to.  I immediately swatched them as a two tone look, and love it!  They wear decently, but for $3.69 they are worth trying especially when I'm trying to make my MAC style black lipstick line last!

I caved today.

And I bought these.

So I've been on the prowl for awhile now for a good pair of combat boots.  I've been lost since my beloved new rock defenders died the other year.  I'm torn between two pair of doc's, but then I found these... and i caved today.

I've been in love with Jeffrey Campbell shoes ever since I saw the "clinic" shoes and tracked down who made them.  The Lita will be on my feet one day when I can find the glitter, or solid black in my size, but until then, these will be my first JC's!  I still want a pair of "Nightwalks", but there are several places where I've seen a good knockoff to be able to try before spending on the real thing.

I hope they fit.  We will see.  It was recommended that if you are between sizes, to go up a size.

I'm still on my search for boots.  I keep finding them, and by the time I decide to order them my size is gone.  That is why I went ahead with these.  I missed out on the skeleton print doc martens and I still regret it.

my style: skulls and purple

[9.09.2012 photo taken with jem's iphone]

[my favourite sunglasses]

[without]

[cosette!]

Breakdown:
dress -  forever 21. Several years ago and it's staple for me.  Very easy to layer and looks good with anything.
black shorts - spring street
purple iris tights - Target
shoes - Rampage
scarf - rue 21
purple lucite skull ring - Masks Y Mas in Abq, NM

I wore this on what felt like the last truly hot day of the summer.  It's been a tough one this year with the heat, and then the humidity doesn't help either.  Summer, I think, is when I mostly miss living in the desert because it's all dry heat and no humidity.

That being said!  Here in Virginia, we're now approaching(finally!) the days where it stays under 80 degrees with little to no humidity!  Fall is definitely on it's way and I couldn't be happier!

[manicure for the day]

I say manicure For the day because I was lazy and didn't bother adding a topcoat.  So of course by the next day and my job, I had some pretty major tipwear and just took it off.  That is not to say that I didn't love this polish.  It's Sephora by OPI's 212.  I know it's an older shade, and to be honest I'm not sure why it took me so long to try.  There is a lot going on with it - flecks, flakes, and micro holographic glitter!  I'd say a perfect colour for Fall with the flecks catching a gold, and the flakes on the blackish brown base looking like fallen leaves!

skull nails

[So yesterday this]

[Turned in to this]

I haven't done any nail art since I was in school last year. The other day was peeking around on tumblr, when I saw a very cute manicure show up on my dashboard with all of the nails in the style of the skull.  I thought "Hey, I can do that!".  I have to be honest, it's a simple design but the original is still so much better.  Maybe not as many teeth lines were used.  Nevertheless it's cute and makes me all the more ready for Fall and everything it has to offer!

What did I use?

Sinful Colors in "Amethyst"
Sally Hansen Xtreme Color in "White on"
Milani Design striper in "Black sketch"
Larger dotting tool that I found in a pack of 4 at Michael's Crafts.

my style : ears

[2g best of collection - so far!]

it was in 2002 that i started to stretch my ears.  i really didn't have a reason to do it other than having seen a pair of horn spirals at a shop called angel alley while i lived in albuquerque, nm.  i started slowly and made my way up to a size 8g so i could have those spirals.  it took me 5yrs to get to and decide that i would stop at a size 2g.  i never ran into problems or infections or horrendous inflammation, and i still don't to this day unless i mess with my earrings too much(nervous tick) and then it's just redness.

i have to say that i am in love with having larger holes, and it's definitely become a part of who i am.  i love the jewelry that is available, and i thought i'd share the best of my collection so far.

[11.16.2011]

it's been awhile since i've shared photos of myself.  i'd like to get more full body photos of outfits and the like, but i always get so awkward when people are taking photos of me that aren't really candid.  it makes me wonder how i ever did any of the modeling that i have in the past..sheesh!

lately i've been totally taking advantage of being able to find proper, and solid colour over the knee socks.  it's nice to have that extra layer, especially with the confused weather that has been happening here in virginia lately.

and i'm so very excited for next wednesday!  here's hoping that i can start to cut my hair into the shape i want.  siouxsie-a-la-peekaboo-with less fringe?  we'll see!
